Canal air is hard on a house.
Chesapeake City is the only Maryland town we serve, and it earns the trip because the conditions there create work that does not exist a few miles inland.
The C and D Canal keeps the air damp and moving. Humidity off the water does not let siding dry the way it does in a Newark development, so growth establishes faster and spreads further around the house rather than staying on one shaded wall. Properties closer to the water get a harder time of it again.
The housing is older on the whole, with painted wood, brick and plenty of original trim, so this is low pressure work with the right product rather than anything aggressive. Older paint under constant moisture is fragile, and a careless job takes the finish with the mildew.
Decks, docks and waterfront structures are the other regular call here. Weathered gray wood over water is the same problem as a deck anywhere, with less margin for error, because what runs off goes into the canal. We keep that in mind in both the product and the method.
What we see on houses in Chesapeake City
- 1
Constant humidity off the canal
Siding never fully dries, so growth spreads further around the house than it would inland.
- 2
Older painted surfaces
Damp air and aging paint mean low pressure only. Force takes the finish along with the mildew.
- 3
Decks and dock structures
Weathered wood over water needs care in both method and runoff, not just pressure.
- 4
Exposure facing the water
The elevation facing the canal takes the weather and shows it first.
Same crew, same phone number, every one of these
We also cover Middletown, Elkton area, Bear and the rest of the area.
